one5G: Proof-of-Concept for Industrial areas with large factories

Home » one5G: Proof-of-Concept for Industrial areas with large factories

Benefits for factory and process automation

5G will bring a high added-value to Factories of the Future and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Some of the main uses include:

  • Factory automation: the automation of operations in the production of items such as electronics, cars, appliances, etc.,
  • Process control: automatically controlled processes based on continuous data gathering and analysis.

one5G Advances

one5G works with operators, component and infrastructure vendors, universities and research institutes to bring advances to this vertical industry in terms of:

  • Time critical, reliable process optimization.
  • Non-time-critical communication including sensing and factory logistics.

From a technical perspective, one5G is optimizing end-to-end aware performance through the advanced management of radio resources and multi-link/multi-node connectivity, advanced link management based on CRAN. Performance optimization is key to successful network deployment and operation, improving performance experience for both the network operator and end-user.

In terms of 5G functionalities, this vertical experiment is testing massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC) for the IoT, requiring low power consumption and low data rates for very large numbers of connected devices; ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) to cater for safety-critical and mission critical applications.
