Previous generations of mobile technologies have mostly met the needs of human communications, such as voice, data and the Internet. 5G will advance mobile technologies with expected revolutionary impacts on vertical industries, spanning automotive, media and entertainment, health, industry, transport and logistics, among others. 5G will thus help digitise the economy and contribute towards global digital transformation.
With this in mind, Global5G.org drives an international group of experts bringing insights into key developments in 5G for vertical industries and international co-operation. This pragmatic approach ensures timely inputs to the work and outputs of Global5G.org, from the Small Cell Study to the Verticals Cartography and on-going Standardisation Tracker. Experts also cover security, privacy and trust as essential for 5G with important enhancements already taking shape in 3GPP standardisation work. In the future, the Global5G.org External Advisory Group (EAG) will help shape our Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) defining future research and innovation and standardisation priorities, with attention to vertical industries, and key findings emerging from our analyses on market trends, the policy environment and country profiles.
